On The Snow
Jase will be on hand to give an unparalleled amount of instruction and guidance and won't quit until you're skiing the whole mountain like a pro. Skiing the Craigieburn's varied terrain and awesome snow results in a rapid rate of progression and by the time you leave the program you'll be skiing terrain you would previously only have dreamt of!
The ski areas rely heavily on the local market so the week days are a picture of deserted slopes. We take full advantage of this by training from Monday to Friday. There are often days when there are more "staff" on the slopes than there are customers. Without the need to worry about other people being in the way, you can fully focus on perfecting your turns or getting the fresh line that you've had your eye on all day.
The key to NZSIT success over the years is our balance between the technical learning and free-skiing. A balance between technical stuff like working on personal skiing, demo turns, teaching progressions and analysis to name a few. complemented by free skiing on and off-piste and in the park. The theory being time to chill the brain and let the newly-learnt skills subconsciously develop while doing what it's all about...having fun skiing! During this time you'll get heaps of tips on how to approach different terrain and snow types. Not only does this open you up to a whole new world of fun and possibilities, it makes you a more dynamic skier and allows you to feel the finer movements of skiing. You can expect your skiing level to go through the roof with this kind of training.
We back this up with indoor modules when the weather is feeding us the goods. This maximises ski time and adds to your basket of skills. We cover topics such as ski tuning, body awareness and fitness, skier analysis videos of yourself and analysis of sample skiers for exams, teaching progressions, lesson plans, learning and teaching styles, safety, customer relations and more.
NZSIT is leading the standard in video feedback and this year it's stepping up a notch with "Instant Replay". It's a well known fact that the quicker you can review your skiing the faster you can make changes. During training sessions Jase will capture HD footage for you to watch and analyse your skiing immediately on the slope. You can then practise straight away while the information is fresh in the brain.
Jase reckons the key to making the big breakthrough in skiing is to have a strong centred stance. This can be hard to get a feel for on the slopes so we have introduced the "Sweet spot trainer". This off-snow balancing aid will help you develop the subtle feelings in your body associated with an ideal position. This can drastically speed up your progress towards being the pro skier that you want to be. It's a fun way to warm up before skiing which is key to preventing unwanted injuries that could limit your ski time.
At key points in the programme you will have one-to-one coaching sessions to drill down on any technical issues. This is a great way to break through barriers and is normally followed by a confidence boost.
After the initial week of skiing we have the first of our weekly individual debriefs. Here we have a general catch up and set goals for the duration of the course for both on and off the slopes. This helps us structure your time with us to give you the experience you want.
We believe our course structure is second to none. It maximises your experience from skills learnt to passing exams and loving skiing. Maybe this along with our 200% commitment policy is why we have some of the best pass rates in the business.
